Message from our CEO –

2016 has been a year of growth despite our operating arena becoming more competitive with less funding. We successfully bid for 6 new Housing Related Support services that had been tendered as part of the Suffolk wide restructure of this provision. These services, across Waveney and Suffolk Coastal have increased our bed spaces by over 70 units and we have welcomed over 30 new staff.

We continued our investment into the development of self-sustaining services and after many months of hard work and determination we opened our new social enterprise café in April. This is an amazing achievement that has only been possible with the support and passion of our staff and of the community. Our vision of supporting those that are experiencing social exclusion has transformed a derelict building into a bustling hub of activity that offers young people the opportunity to undertake apprenticeships, work experience, volunteering and permanent paid employment – we are all extremely excited by this project and it is one that we hope to expand across our service areas, and to new customer groups.

Whilst there is no doubt finances are getting tougher to balance, all our staff have been committed to developing quality services despite significant changes to contracts. Staff and customers have been fully involved in our strategic planning for this year and beyond which has resulted in our workforce becoming more diverse, more inclusive and certainly more productive. Never has our organisational philosophy of ‘move with the cheese’ been more significant in our daily work lives and I am exceptionally proud of everyone at Team Access!
