Mindful Pathways

Health and Wellbeing

Our mental health and wellbeing can change from moment to moment, and day to day. Whether you are in crisis or coping, we, at Mindful Pathways @ Access Community Trust can offer support to help you manage your mental wellbeing.

Who are we?

The Mindful Pathways service is part of Access Community Trust: we promote positive wellbeing through mindfulness-based therapy. Our service is run under supervision from Mark Hambrook (Clinical Lead). Thanks to the kind generosity of The Henry Smith Foundation, we run Mindfulness programs which are FREE for the people attending.

Who do we work with?

People who:

  • • have depression and anxiety

  • • are in recovery

  • • are suffering from stress

  • • are young people, although we will deal with all age groups

How do people get referred to us?

  • • Through Their GP’s

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present moment. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience. If life is passing you by then contact us using the below contact form.

"Mindfulness means deliberately attending to and becoming more aware of our experience: our thoughts, feelings and body sensations. This allows us to clearly perceive thoughts, physical sensations, emotions and events at the moment they occur without reacting in an automatic or habitual way. Experiences don’t overwhelm us and we become steady through life’s ups and downs."

What is Mindfulness for Positive Wellbeing?

Mindfulness for Positive Wellbeing (MPW) is based on Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) - a relapse-prevention treatment for depression and anxiety. Research indicates that it may be particularly effective for individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD).

What is Mindfulness Based Recovery?

Mindfulness Based Recovery (MBR) tackles the very roots of addictive behavior by targeting two of the main predictors of relapse: negative emotions and cravings. Treatment centers, prisons and Veterans Affairs centers across the country have implemented the program.

What is Reversing the Spiral?

Reversing the Spiral (RTS) is a 3-part programme using in the Recovery College model. Most of us have had periods within our lives when everything seems ‘too much’ and we no longer feel in control. We can feel emotionally drained and have difficulty finding solutions or making progress. RTS builds resilience, emotional intelligence, and offers the skills to flourish in work and life.
