Jan Sutton

Jan’s working life in London and then in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, has mainly been in Further Education Colleges. Jan enjoys this because Colleges offer something different, she says ”everyone deserves a fresh start or a second chance - especially for those who were not very successful in school. College students, especially the adult students , tend to have been out of education for several years and usually left school with very few, if any, qualifications. They have realised that getting qualifications is important if they want to improve their lives and those of their families. They work so hard and despite all the many pressures they are under, they usually succeed. It still gives me huge pleasure to see how they grow in confidence and do so well”. Jan now teaches part-time and works as an External Examiner with Colleges in Devon, Somerset and West Sussex. She has been learning Italian for about 3 years and has just started to learn stained glass work.
